Engineerd by d3o labs, Klim’s d3o armor pads are CE certifed, thin, lightweight, very flexible (even in cold tempratures), and stay crispy in milk (ok, we made that last one up). The cool thing about d3o armor is that while it’s very pliable in use, it instantly stiffens upon impact or blunt trauma. This is the stuff Olympic skiers use for protection in their racing suits. Once you try this stuff, you’ll never got back to traditional armor again. Only about 8mm thick, the manufactuer claims it’s up to 57% thinner and offers up to 4.5 times the protection of other armor.
We know we’ve been impressed with it in our Traverse gear (read crash tested), which is what Klim markets it for. We’ve also noticed that the armor also fits some of our other riding gear, making it more economicaly friendly too. Buy some and you’ll be amazed at the weight and flexibility, it’s like riding nude! (well, you get the idea)
